It’s crazy to think how I got to where I am. August of 2020 we started racing after not even knowing this sport existed. I thought it would be another one of those things that you do a couple of times and then forget about it. But, that wasn’t the case here. It’s the first sport I truly fell in love with. No pressure from coaches or teammates. You can go at whatever pace you feel comfortable and participate whenever you want. Even though you’re technically competing against other people, I see it more as competing against yourself and seeing how much you can improve.
I still remember my first time on Southtowns track. I had no idea what I was doing and was filled with fear. I was so nervous, everything seemed so much bigger compared to now but, I couldn't be more proud of myself for getting on that track.
My first bike was a Redline cruiser from a soon to be teammate. I still ride that cruiser to this day and love it just as much as when I first got it. It might be a little banged up from all the crashes but, what's improvement without a little failure. My first class bike was also from a soon to be teammate. A pro xl teal DK. I also still ride the DK even though it sounds like a garbage truck when I pedal but, that just adds a little ✨flavor✨ to the aesthetic. That bike may be loud but you can't deny it's durability. That bike has been through sooooooo many crashes and it still rides like a champ, even with all the clunking.
I never thought I would get a race bike. I guess I thought we would just borrow them forever haha.
I've met so many amazing individuals who have pushed me to be better and have helped me learn and grow over the past 2 years. I can't imagine life without this sport, the people, and my team. I couldn't be more greatful for those who have taken me under their wing and have been patient in teaching me everything I know. This sport has taught me so much about myself and the people around me and I can't wait to learn more. This is just the beginning.🧡
