Did you know MadTown BMX has a Board? Board Members are volunteers who have committed to taking on more responsibilities than race day volunteers. They coordinate track maintenance, work with businesses to become sponsors, manage the registration tower and snack shack, and literally pay the bills to keep the lights on at MadTown BMX. This list of responsibilities is longer, but we think you get the point. It takes A LOT to run a BMX track.

Andrew Brickl
​President

Andrew lives in DeForest and was introduced to MadTown BMX when his family attended the DeForest 4th of July parade in 2021. They decided to try it out and fell in love with the sport and people right away. They continued to attend practices for a few weeks and started racing in September 2021.

Life Outside BMX: Andrew is an Aircraft Armament Technician with the Wisconsin Air National Guard and loves to travel and find new experiences with his family.

Taylor Scheel
Vice President

Taylor lives in Sun Prairie. He was introduced to BMX when his middle son participated in the BMX Racing League in 2022 and became hooked. In 2023, his youngest son was interested, so they both participated in the BMX Racing League. All three were competitive racing last year and plan to keep it going for the upcoming season.

Before Taylor started racing, he volunteered every time the track was open. Even though he’ll be racing a lot during the 2024 season, you’ll still see him volunteering around the snack shack and registration tower.

Life Outside BMX: Taylor works at Costco, plays in rec soccer leagues, and is obsessed with his dog, Ellie.

​Ame Ellis Shenberger
Secretary

Ame lives in Monroe, WI and has been a MadTown BMX volunteer since 2020. After seeing a few national BMX races on YouTube, her son Joseph wanted to try it out and started racing in 2019. He quickly fell in love with every aspect of BMX and started racing full circuit in 2020. (Full circuit = Local, State, Gold Cup, and National Races) Ame babysits the Wallgren twins, Kadince and Kenidea, and the BMX bug rubbed off on them too. They started on strider bikes in January 2020, and are now doing the full circuit.

Many times you will find Ame in the registration tower at MadTown BMX or scoring at the finish line.

Life Outside BMX: Ame loves traveling (which is good when you are doing the full circuit), live music, volunteering, and making as many memories as possible with her family.

Rachel Giblin
Treasurer  

​Rachel lives in Sun Prairie, is a wife and mother of three. Her youngest, Wyatt, participated in the BMX Racing League May/June 2023 when he was 9 years old and quickly fell in love. After a few months of watching their son from the bleachers, her husband, David, decided to join in and now races too. Rachel started volunteering in September 2023 (many times you’ll see her in the registration tower) and became Treasurer January 2024.

Rachel is a great example of why you don’t need to be a BMX pro to volunteer and be part of the Board. She is very new to the sport, but has jumped in to lend a hand wherever there is a need. Volunteering also gave her the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about BMX. She’s now able to participate in an activity her son and husband love, without getting on the track. Her twin 14 year olds, Eli and Arianna, also volunteer on practice and race nights. Many times it’s a full family outing and a great way to spend summer nights.

Life Outside BMX: Full-time Marketer/Graphic Designer and lover of the Northwoods where you’ll find her kayaking, hiking, and ATVing.

Brian Stouffer
Track Operator

Brian lives in Madison and has been involved with MadTown BMX since 2020. He started going to MadTown BMX because his daughter, Ivy, was interested in BMX. Brian also raced when he was a kid. He has good childhood memories of everything BMX-related and enjoys having the opportunity to provide those memories & experiences for kids & families today.

Life Outside BMX: Brian works full-time as an insurance adjuster and also enjoys putzing in the garage, taking care of his chickens, and buying stuff on Facebook Marketplace that he doesn't need.

Jack Abrams
Board Member At-Large

Jack and his family have been in the MadTown BMX community for 7 years. His oldest son, Cole, started things off and was the first to race, and Jack joined in shortly after. His youngest son, Caden, races occasionally, and his oldest daughter joins them at the track to cheer them on.

You’ll usually find Jack geared up and on the track on race days. On non-race days, Jack helps with mechanical, electrical, and track maintenance at MadTown BMX.

Tara Parish
Board Member At-Large

Tara got into BMX when her son Atticus tried out the BMX Racing League in 2022. He was on a bike before he could walk, so she knew it would be something he loved. Tara loved the energy, culture, and community of the families at MadTown BMX, so much that within a few weeks of her son starting the BMX Racing League, she was volunteering every night. Tara has volunteered in almost all roles but now-a-days she can usually be found in the Snack Shack. The majority of Tara’s family now races BMX, including her youngest son and fiancé, Taylor.

Life Outside BMX: Tara lives Sun Prairie. She’s a doula and owns a sustainable home and body products business (Shade Tree Naturals). In her spare time, she loves being outside gardening, hiking, camping, and learning about plants!

Brad Pinchart
Board Member At-Large

Brad focuses most of his time on recruiting and retaining new riders and families to this great sport at our incredible track! By day, he is an independent insurance contractor who represents Aflac. (Yes, the duck on TV!) He lives in Windsor and is married. His wife, Kelly, works as a RN at Meriter Hospital and is also a BMX Mom who volunteers at MadTown regularly.

Brad and Kelly have two kids, Charlotte (13) and Zeke (11). Both are BMX racers who came to the sport with no experience and absolutely loved it! Brad and Kelly had never done BMX. Seven years ago, the Pinchart family first learned about MadTown BMX when they attended the DeForest Fourth of July where they saw cool looking racer kids on bikes rolling down the street. Their son then participated in the BMX Racing League and the rest is history! BMX is a family activity that they look forward to every season. Their kids have benefited in so many ways, and we have so many BMX friends from all over the state!

When Brad is at the track, you'll see him marshaling, operating the gate, or doing an amazing job announcing the races!

Life Outside BMX: You'll find Brad doing something outdoors. He loves hunting, archery, and powersports of all kinds.

Kristina Vaccaro-Smith
Board Member At-Large

Kristina lives in Windsor with her husband and two kids, Mason (10) and Remi (7). She became involved with MadTown BMX when her son Mason took up BMX in 2020. His Grandma introduced us to the sport after racing BMX in Madison when she was young.

You can usually find Kristina in the Snack Shack doling out snacks and treats.

Outside of BMX, Kristina works as a Director of Program Operations for Safe Communities, a nonprofit in Madison. She also recently launched software to enhance the work of nonprofits doing similar work and helps her husband run his window cleaning business. Hobbies include running her kids from sport to sport and spending time with friends and family.​

Stuart Wright
Board Member At-Large

Stuart lives in Poynette, WI and got into BMX in 2010 with his son (at that time it was Greater Madison BMX). Stuart was MadTown BMX's Track Operator from 2011-2022. As a volunteer, he has taken care of the grounds keeping, mechanical maintenance, and volunteer experiences.

Life Outside BMX: Stuart works at Brooks Tractor as a heavy equipment and GPS position repair technician. In his spare time he enjoys watching all kinds of racing, from Sprint Cars to BMX bikes, and also watching NHL hockey.

Three very dedicated board members stepped down in December 2023. We want to take a moment to say Thank You to Brian Baldis, Natalie Baldis, and Siobhan O’Neill Kutz for the insane amount of work they’ve put towards MadTown over the years as Board Members. They are now passing the torch and the current Board Members have very big shoes to fill. Don’t worry, they are all still volunteers and you’ll still see them at the track. (Thank Goodness!!)
