TURN TULSA PINK: Making a Difference in Tulsa TTP believes that PINK is not the color of just one cancer – but the color of PASSION, POWER and LOVE! When it happens to you or someone you love, no one cancer is more devastating than another. Which is why TurnTulsaPink was founded. They are a door to a network of people locally who help those dealing with cancer.
Turn Tulsa Pink – from a Dream to a Movement It started as a dream Judi Grove, Director had in February of 2011. Judi shared the vision with the Tulsa Community and within months, hundreds of caring Tulsan’s had jumped on the Pink Band Wagon.
Turn Tulsa Pink was named the Best Success Story in Urban Tulsa and the Tulsa Business Journal – and raised more than $46,000 to support 10 different local Tulsa cancer charities that help woman and children. Better yet, 2012 proved just how much the Tulsa community cares - and awarded Judi Grove the Tulsey Award for Civic Entrepreneur and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award; which she shared with her hardworking committees.
USA BMX was invited to team up with TTP for this years' Grands - just as they'd done in the past with other sporting events (such as PBR Rodeo) when they are in town. This year, Chase's Connor Fields, Redline's Jason Carne$ and GT's dynamic duo of Tyler Brown and Sean Gaian volunteered to take the time to visit Tulsa's Cancer Treatement Center of America - where they met patients and the hospital staff, signed autographs and handed out freebies. Everybody apprecriated the effort - whether it was kids who were there visiting a family member or patients themselves who just finished up a day of chemo or surgery. 2012 U.S. Olympian Connor Fields summed it up best, afterwards, in his twitter post: "We had an awesome time today going to the Cancer Centers of America. Shared a few laughs with some of the patients and hopefully we inspired them to keep fighting!"
Having been one of the longest and most successful supporters for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the "Race for Life" series, USA BMX strongly believes in this cause - and we hope to schedule more Elite Pro visits to cancer wards at many of the major races throughout the years to come.
