First Eight Nationals of 2017 Announced

Sneak Preview of 2017 National Schedule With the 2016 national series in the final stages, USA BMX has announced the first three months of the 2017 schedule.   The 2016 season will run its final weekend on October 21 through 23 in Okeeheelee, Florida and Lake Perris, California before concluding with "The Greatest Race on Earth" - the USA BMX Grand National in Tulsa, Oklahoma over Thanksgiving weekend.  The first half of the 2017 series will look very similar to this years 29-race national series.   For 2017, the USA BMX National series will get underway at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This venue has plenty of amenities and attractions, which helps make the Silver Dollar Nationals a staple on the USA BMX National Series.  The event will kick-off the season the weekend of January 13 through 15.   The second stop on the 2017 circuit will be the Bluegrass Nationals and the President's Cup at the KEC Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky the weekend of January 27 - 29.   This 3-day national will have incredible President Cup awards presented to winning riders in every age group including open class based on their three-day cumulative score.  Additionally, the President's Cup features an exciting and unique state versus state competition to see which state goes home victorious.  All Riders who race all three days of the national from the winning state will receive a custom President's Cup State jersey.  This year the venue gets even better as well with a huge expo hall added to allow teams, vendors and manufacturers ample room to set up and display.   Rounding out the trifecta of early season indoor venues, we head back to Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Ford Truck Arena the weekend of February 10-12 for the Sooner Nationals.  Tulsa has long been home to the Grand Nationals and has hosted the Sooner Nationals for four years.  Tulsa will also be home to the USA BMX National Headquarters in the near future.   Moving outdoors and to the current Arizona home of USA BMX, we go to the Winter Nationals at the legendary Black Mountain BMX for the first Pro Series Event.  Phoenix is always a destination in February and the February 17-19 President's Day weekend event is sure to attract riders from around the world.     Staying outdoors and moving to the other side of the United States, the Gator Nationals in Oldsmar, Florida will be the next stop and the first for the North American BMX Supercross Series.  The February 24-26 event has been a long-standing event on the schedule and is always a favorite for many.  The beautiful beaches of St. Petersburg / Clearwater and the immaculate track of Oldsmar BMX makes this a destination location.   We return indoors for the Cajun Nationals at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in Monroe, Louisiana.  The March 10-12 event will also be the site of the 2017 USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships.   March 31 through April 2 we will visit the home of the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  Novant Health BMX has become one of the largest stops on the tour and the 2017 Carolina Nationals is certainly shaping up to be a doozy.  The 2017 UCI BMX World Championships will also return to the United States for the first time in 16 years, July 25-30, at the pristine Novant Health BMX venue.     We go back indoors April 7-9 to the Bank of Cascades Center on the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond, Oregon, for the Great Northwest Nationals.  The venue has been a long-time host of the Great Northwest Nationals and like all of the early season events, is a staple of the USA BMX National Series.   With the 2016 season set for an exciting closing weekend before the Grand National, we are excited to release the first few months of the 2017 schedule.  The final preparations are being completed for the remainder of the schedule and we know 2017 is going to be another exciting year.  With the World Championships returning to the United States, we look forward to announcing the qualification procedures in the coming weeks along with the remainder of the schedule.  Date Event Location - Venue Jan 13-15 Silver Dollar Nationals Las Vegas, NV - South Point Casino Jan 27-29 Bluegrass Nationals / President's Cup / 3-Day National Louisville, KY - KEC Freedom Hall Feb 10-12 Sooner Nationals Tulsa, OK - Ford Truck Arena Feb 17-19 Winter Nationals  Phoenix, AZ - Black Mountain BMX Feb 24-26 Gator Nationals Oldsmar, FL - Oldsmar BMX Mar 10-12 Cajun Nationals Monroe, LA - Ike Hamilton Expo Center Mar 31 - Apr 2 Carolina Nationals  Rock Hill, SC - Novant Health BMX Apr 7-9 Great Northwest Nationals Redmond, OR - Bank of Cascades Center, Deschutes Co.
