While Alise would do a xerox copy of her main the next day, Saturday's Elite Men pro show would see quite a different outcome. While it was the usual suspects in the final (two Aussies, one Frenchman and the rest U.S. riders), everyone watching knew this would be a good one. The Chula Vista locals were extra boisterous for their hometown locals Garcia and Dean; and wouldn't you know it - that was exactly who holeshotted!
From lane-4, Supercross' Dean powered to the first turn first, and nabbed the Answer holeshot cash. "Cha-ching," as Grindle says. But The jet, in his 2019 Fly gear, was right on his back and doin' his best to reel them in, as Friday's winner - Joris Daudet found himself in an unfamiliar third place position.
(above) Down the second straight in Saturday's main, Dean was looking comfortable in the lead, Garcia was hungry for a win, Daudet was setting them up for a moce and the crowded sidelines were going nuts.
As they hit mach speeds into the second turn, Dean was still in the lead, but Daudet was coming in hot onthe inside. So hot, in fact, that his tires probly melted - and he washed out while making the move for the win. Amazingly, Garcia barely deflected Joris' Chase machine as if flew out from under the current Pro points leader.
From there, Garcia was on the prowl and Dean was doing his best to run a flawless lap for the win. Jared knocked off mille-seconds here and there and into the last turn, carved the perfect high-low swoop, not losing any ounce of momentum. By the exit of the turn, they were nearly side-by-side, and it was now a race of scrubs 'n pumps to the finishline. Grip-to-grip they hit the last jump and both AA's pushed for it at the white stripe ...with Garcia nipping Anthony for the day's win!
It just doesn't get much more exciting than that!
