2021 USA BMX MidAmerica Nationals Race Report
Raytown BMX has hosted some stunning national and regional events in its past, but this year has to be the one for the ages. Let's start with the track surface. The crew at Raytown went with a crushed limestone that is standard fair across the pond in Europe and it held up nicely to some late Saturday night rainstorms. Combine that with some freshly sealed asphalt berms and you have yourself one top notch racetrack.
Birthday Schmirthday
Most racers dread that dreaded move up day;ie their birthday. It generally means that you have to claw your way back to the front of the pack in your new age group. That was anything but true for a couple of factory stars who call Raytown BMX their home. Powerlite DFR's L O L A Jonjevic became a teenager on Saturday but that didn't stop her winning ways. She never lost a lap in class or in open. Full Tilt’s “ly-ly” Eli Staton also turned up to the 11x class and, much to the chagrin of his competitors, went straight to the front of the pack

Main of the year?
If you haven’t seen the 17-20X main from Sunday yet, you’re in for a treat. Alpha’s Cameron Wing shot out of gate two and looked primed to run away with the race but Hyper’s Drew Polk (he’d won the prior two days) threaded the needle down the inside of the second straight and dove low on the Texan. We’re not sure how Drew managed to keep traction with the move but to say it was impressive is an understatement. Unfortunately for Drew this scrubbed off a bunch of speed in the process. This allowed the other Cameron of Supercross BMX fame to challenge for the lead. Polk would give Bramer the same treatment in the final turn, again killing the two rider’s momentum. This stalling allowed Full Tilt’s James Plummer to pull up beside Polk and outstretch him at the line for the win. What a race! Drew is off to the world championships in the Netherlands in a few weeks to race Junior Men. Good Luck!

The weather gods kept us dry during the event which was certainly appreciated. We want to give another big thanks to TO Harley Kennedy and his awesome cohorts. You folks have transformed Raytown into one of the premier tracks on the circuit. Until next time.
