DeSoto BMX is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation organized to bring the excitement of BMX racing to youth and adults from across the DFW Metroplex and beyond. With 72,000 square feet under one roof, DeSoto BMX is America’s first covered facility built exclusively for hosting race events of all sizes. Conveniently located in southwest Dallas County, it has gained a reputation for hosting some of the largest BMX events in the country.
After relocating from Sunnyvale, Texas, to DeSoto in 1996, DeSoto BMX has established a long tradition of hosting state, regional, and national-level events. In 1999, DeSoto BMX made history by becoming the first covered facility in the U.S. designed exclusively for BMX racing, adopting the fitting phrase "Racing Under The Big Top."
Since opening, DeSoto BMX has been the proud home of the USA BMX Super Nationals. This three-day event attracts more than 1,800 participants annually, including amateurs, professionals, and Olympians from around the globe. In March 2021, the Super Nationals featured over 5,000 spectators and participants from 40 states and 7 countries, with an impressive 306 motos on Saturday alone. We look forward to the opportunity and privilege to host this event each year.
In addition to the Super Nationals, DeSoto BMX annually hosts several other major events, including a Texas State Championship qualifier, the Leukemia Society Race for Life, and a Free One-Day Race for all new participants during USA BMX National Week. The facility also aims to host over 90 local district races annually.
DeSoto BMX has had the honor of hosting the USA Cycling National Championship and the Gold Cup Finals three times. In April 2019, the USA Collegiate World Championships returned to DeSoto, paired with the Super Nationals.
In 2014, we hosted the first-ever Collegiate National BMX Racing Championship. This event gave some of the fastest amateur and professional riders the opportunity to meet with college recruiters, who were offering scholarships for collegiate cycling teams.
DeSoto BMX offers open practice sessions every Monday and Wednesday night, with racing clinics held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (please check the calendar for specific coaching events and clinic dates, as these are not held every week). Races take place every Friday and Saturday—details can be found on our calendar.
DeSoto residents enjoy free practice sessions with a valid USA BMX membership. However, all residents must still pay for racing. First-time visitors to DeSoto BMX receive a free one-day membership, and the practice fee is waived. After the first visit, riders must obtain a membership to continue riding and racing. Feel free to ask one of our track volunteers at the sign-up booth for more information.
DeSoto BMX is located at the intersection of Interstate Highways 20 and 35E in southwest Dallas County, just a few miles from Interstates 30 and 45. The area offers a wide range of accommodations, including hotels, motels, and RV parks, as well as numerous dining options to suit all tastes and budgets.
