New Rider Resources
Getting Started
We love introducing new riders to the sport of BMX. Our friendly track staff is ready to guide you through the race day process and answer any questions you have. All you need to get started is a long sleeved shirt, pants, and closed toe-shoes. Bring your bike and helmet. (Note: we have a limited supply of rental bikes and full-face helmets available for use at the track; first-come first-served). Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to ride on the track. (Waivers required at sign-up.)
Our official schedule is located at the "Schedule" button above. In the event of inclement weather or recent rain, always check our website, Twitter or Facebook for the latest on weather-related schedule changes. You can sign up for RainedOut text notices here: https://www.rainedout.net/team_page.php?a=db15d194f584ac54685a.
USA BMX Membership
NOVA BMX is governed by USA BMX which requires that all riders have a current USA BMX membership to be on the track.
- 1-day Trial Membership - We offer a FREE 1-day Trial Membership that can be used for any 1 practice or race. This is a one-time chance to try the sport for free with no obligation. You can apply for a 1-day membership online at https://www.usabmx.com/trial. Please be sure to select "VA - NOVA BMX" as the track and select the "event date" as the date you will come to the track to use your 1-day membership. This will provide us the information in advance of your arrival. Visit us at the check-in table upon your arrival.
- USA BMX Membership - USA BMX Memberships must be purchased on-line at usabmx.com. Be sure to select Northern Virginia (NOVA) BMX as your home track when completing the online membership form! Your USA BMX Membership is valid at any of the over 300 sanctioned tracks in the United States and Canada. We will not be processing new or renewal applications or registrations on-site. Please email us at info@novabmx.org if you have any questions about the registration process.
Separate from the USABMX membership there is a local fee for each practice and race. Advance signups are required for all gate practice, clinics and race sessions. After you have ensured your USABMX membership is current or you have a 1-day trial membership in place for a practice or clinic, you sign up for races and practices via the red "pre-sign" button on our schedule. Links will be opened approximate 1-week before each event.
